Empowering the Future of AIoT Innovation in Canada
WHAT IS IT
The National Strategy Council (NSC) is one of AIoT Canada's critical pillars underpinning the development and effectiveness of the Canadian combined Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem.
The NSC is mandated to guide the development of the broad national AIoT (AI+IoT) strategy, intermediate strategy papers and recommendations for AIoT-based economic growth in targeted sectors, and spontaneous whitepapers on Canada's strategic AIoT policies as needed.
The NSC consists of leaders from companies and organizations involved in or with a stake in the AIoT space. That includes but is not limited to the ICT sector, device providers, cybersecurity, government, academia, investment and funding providers, and others.
WHY NSC
The Internet of Things is a vast space whose breadth and complexity are compounded by its coupling with the also-broad Artificial Intelligence space. The resulting AIoT space touches many sectors, verticals, technologies, and disciplines. Separately constrained in their silos, they don't cross-pollinate, leverage, or amplify the IoT and AI innovations and business opportunities among each other.
A national strategy to leverage AIoT for economic growth is needed to pull them all together to reduce effort duplication and elevate the velocity of innovation and economic activity.
HOW DO WE WORK
The NSC meets regularly and collaborates with experts from industry, academia, and AIoT Canada's membership to provide input into the strategy and develop and author the reports and papers.
The NSC moderates interactive roundtables on relevant AIoT topics and holds events with panels and networking to seek input on AIoT strategies from the broader ecosystem.
In addition, the NSC will be forming expert groups to deliberate and produce input on several critical aspects of the broad or intermediate strategies. Expert groups will be composed of thought leaders and experts in selected areas from the AIoT ecosystem.

Industry, government, and academic participation is critical to developing meaningful, practical, and inclusive national AIoT strategies.
There are several ways to contribute to AIoT Canada's strategy effort through the NSC. That includes:
-
Becoming a member of an Expert Group
-
Speaking on relevant AIoT topics at NSC events
-
Providing independent, unsolicited strategy advice and input
